Therapy for
Neurodivergent (ND) Women

Are you an adult neurodivergent woman struggling with anxiety, trauma, or other distressing symptoms? You're not alone.

Whether you have been formally diagnosed or suspect you are autistic or an ADHD-er, I can help you embrace the things that make you so unique while breaking negative, painful patterns in your life.

  • Many of my clients share that they have trauma they need to process.

  • Some want to make major changes in their career, and do not know where to begin.

  • Most of my clients simply want a place where they can remove the mask and be their authentic selves.

If you feel misunderstood, broken, and exhausted from trying to navigate life without the playbook it seems everyone else got, you are in the right place.

Whether through career counseling, talk therapy or EMDR, we have many different tools to help you thrive with that beautifully unique brain of yours.

When therapy may help:

Masking & Burnout

If you find yourself regularly masking—consciously or unconsciously adapting their behaviors to fit societal expectations—it is common to feel exhausted and burnt out. This constant effort to blend in or appear "normal" can contribute to chronic stress and anxiety.

Complex Trauma & PTSD

Neurodivergent women are more likely to experience complex relational trauma, sexual abuse, and assault than neurotypical women. Compounded with the tendency for late diagnosis, and difficulty in accessing resources, it is particularly challenging for neurodivergent women to get the support they need to heal.

Social Challenges

Difficulties with social communication and understanding social cues can lead to heightened anxiety in social situations. Neurodivergent women may feel anxious about navigating social interactions, making friends, or maintaining relationships.

Anger & Emotional Dysregulation

When sensory overload is high, and feeling misunderstood is a regular occurrence, it can be very difficult to find the words to communicate how you feel. Some neurodivergent women experience overwhelming and distressing meltdowns, while others experience irritability, depression, and stress that can be felt in their bodies.

Executive Dysfunction

ADHD and autism can affect executive functions such as planning, organization, and time management. This can lead to anxiety related to meeting deadlines, handling responsibilities, or managing daily tasks effectively.

Late & Mis-Diagnosis

The diagnostic criteria for ADHD and autism are based on research involving middle-class caucasian boys; so, women of intersectional identities are more likely to be mis-diagnosed. This has led to many neurodivergent women receiving neurotypical therapy and incomplete medication treatments. Receiving a diagnosis later in life can be a confusing mix of emotions.

Repetitive Thoughts & Routines

Some neurodivergent women may experience obsessive thoughts or rituals (common in conditions like OCD or autism) that contribute to anxiety. Disruptions to routines or unexpected changes can also trigger anxiety or panic.

Unmasking in therapy

Therapy for neurodivergent women in Dallas, TX

My top priority is your sense of emotional safety as we process trauma, life's challenges, and complex family dynamics. Through talk therapy and EMDR, we will:

  • Increase self-awareness

  • Decrease trauma responses

  • Develop new boundaries and ways of expressing your authentic self.

I encourage stimming in session, and don't require eye contact to do my job well.

We will also adjust the space to accommodate your sensory needs, because who can focus when the couch feels itchy or the lights are buzzing?
